Overview

With over 50 designers creating advertisements every week and every day, Staples needed a distribution solution. I delved into the world of GeoMarketing and developed a unique implementation. Digital banners are delivered according to a user's profile under any situation - whether they hold a Staples membership, are viewing the site through web or mobile browser, or are inside or outside of a Staples brick-and-mortar store.

Background

I focused on the first part of the GeoMarketing process by designing the UI/UX process for collecting the banners. I programmed the solution in PHP, MySQL, HTML, and CSS using a LAMP application style.

The Staples Ad Department needed a web app to allow Managers to assign tasks to Designers. A typical task was the design of an advertisement banner. The banner was to be distributed to web or mobile device, whether the user held a Staples membership or not, and had to follow an attribute nomenclature. The designer is notified, completes the task, and uploads the finished advertisement to the collection.

The completed banner can be uploaded or dragged and dropped for upload into a database, for the applications to pick up and display. The Manager is notified of the completed task and approves the ad banner or sends changes. This process repeats itself until the banner is fully approved.

Depending on login credentials, a single application menu with an administration section supports role rules and banner attributes. A Manager could change the banner's attributes at any time. The resulting database could be queried for distribution.

Outside of this process, the actual client on the browser device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) contains the logic to pick up and display the ad.
